Candidate selection for admission to the double-degree programs, Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Computer, Communication, and Electronic Engineering, between the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science, the University of Trento (UniTrento), Italy, and the School of Information Technology and Electronics, the National University of Mongolia (NUM), Mongolia.

Call for applications and deadlines a.y. 2025/2026

  • Application: from 22 April 2025 to 29 April 2025 at 23:59 (GMT+8)
  • Rankings: by 6 May 2025
  • Confirmation: the deadline will be communicated via email by NUM staff
    Online pre-enrollment at the Italian Embassy for non-EU applicants: by the deadline stated by the Italian government and communicated by UniTrento staff.
  • Enrollment: to be notified by UniTrento staff.
  • Arrival in Trento: at the beginning of September 2025.

This call for applications regulates admission to the following double-degree programs held in English for the academic year 2025/2026 at the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Trento:

  • Computer Science
  • Computer, Communication, and Electronic Engineering

The double degree program has reserved a maximum number of positions for applicants:

Admission requirements

Applications are accepted for the selection process from those who satisfy the following requirements:

  1. The candidate must be a student of the following two departments of the School of Information Technology and Electronics, the National University of Mongolia.
    • Department of Information and Computer Science
    • Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering
  2. At least 90 credit hours must be completed at the National University of Mongolia, of which 60 credit hours must be completed in the course mappings (The current semester will be counted)
  3. GPA of 3.0 or higher
  4. English language score (TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC score equivalent to - at least B2 level of the Common European Framework)
    If you don't have any language score, one option could be taking an exam at TOEIC center which organizes exam on every Wednesday. If you register next exam on 30th of April, you can also send us via email contact the score after you receive your score as soon as possible.

Application

Submit the online application by the deadline.

Application fee: none.

Candidates seeking admission to the selection process must complete the online application form.

Documentation required:

To complete the online application correctly, candidates must upload the following documents in PDF format:

  1. A copy of a valid national identity card (only pages relating to personal information)
  2. Motivation letter – A statement outlining your motivation and reasons for participating (400-600 words in English)
  3. Completed courses in the course mappings (The current semester courses will be counted, and at least 90 credit hours must be completed at NUM) and study plan (List of courses studied at NUM and to be studied at the University of Trento in the 4th year)
  4. Transcript of all courses. The transcript must include the list of all marks obtained and the GPA (available from SiSi in English and Mongolian).
  5. Document proofs English Language score
  6. Curriculum Vitae (in Europass format, photocopy of any certificates or other relevant documents can be attached, if applicable)

Technical problems in filling out the online application must be immediately emailed to the contacts. Applications submitted after the application deadline and/or in different ways than those expressed in comma 1 of the present article will not be accepted.

Selection and Ranking

After the deadline, the evaluation committee (hereinafter the Committee) for the applications received comprises at least three faculty members from the two joint Universities. 

The Committee checks the regularity of the submitted applications and, for the eligible candidates only, evaluates the fulfillment of the curricular requirements and the adequacy of the candidate's preparation. The Committee may meet remotely as well.

Selection criteria

The evaluation will be carried out by assigning a score out of 100 based on the following criteria:

Suppose the documents in the online application do not allow the Committee to evaluate the candidature adequately. In that case, the candidate might be asked to participate in an interview (in person or via video conference) or to submit further documentation/certificates.

Applicants awarded a score of 50/100 or more will be considered eligible.

On completing the evaluation process of the call, the Committee will publish the ranking list by the deadlines on this webpage.

Admission and enrollment

Candidates who intend to renounce their place must notify the Committee as soon as possible by e-mail to the contacts.

Should any places become available, the Committee reserves the right to invite other suitable candidates from the ranked list to enroll in the Double degree up to the number of places available.

Information about each Double degree program enrollment will be provided to the contacts in due time. Students who do not complete enrollment by the deadline will be considered withdrawals.

Tuition fees

The student pays the tuition fee to the Home University according to its credit rate for the entire duration of the study. No additional fees are payable to the UniTrento.

Scholarships

Candidates in the top two on the list may be awarded a full scholarship under the Erasmus+ KA 171 ICM program, including accommodation, monthly allowance, and round-trip airfare.

  • for two semesters (10 months)
  • € 900 (€ 1,025 for disabled person, national minority) stipend per month
  • Covers round-trip travel

The selected candidates without scholarships will study in Italy for one year at their own expense.

Arrival at UniTrento

You must start the lessons in Trento at the beginning of September.

UniTrento Staff will provide further information about the dates.

Non-European admitted students must be in Trento no later than 30 September 2025.
